The Round Table Cocktail Series: The Sour in the Stone

At the Round Table, we are always getting asked about our specialty cocktails and the process that goes into making them. In light of that we bring you a brand new article series about the how-to behind some of our most popular drinks. To kick it off we’ll be starting with one of my personal favorites, The Sour in the Stone.

Before you start, you’re going to need a few things:

  • Amaretto Dell’ Amorosa
  • Elijah Craig Bourbon
  • 1 lemon
  • Egg whites
  • shaker glass
  • martini glass
  • sharp knife
  • lemon squeezer

Once you have everything prepared, you can move on to prepping the drink! To start off, your going to combine 1.25 ounce Amaretto, 1 oz bourbon, and a splash of egg whites in your shaker glass. Then, using your lemon squeezer, juice half of your lemon into your shaker glass, and shake without ice. This “dry shake” is important as it lets the ingredients fully mix with the egg whites, giving the drink a nice frothy texture. Next add ice to the shaker and shake again to chill your cocktail. Once it’s nice and cold, strain it into your martini glass and use the other half of your lemon to cut out a nice lemon slice to use as garnish. Frothy, chilled, and garnished, your Sour in the Stone is ready to serve!
