Spotlight On: March Staff Picks

It’s a new Month, and we’ve put together a whole new selection of Staff Picks. These great games are currently some of our most played games, and we think you’ll really enjoy trying a few of them the next time you visit The Round Table. Next time you’re here, check out:

Matt’s staff pick, Cat Tower, is a competitive game for 3 to 6 players that can be played in 15 minutes. In this cat stacking card game, players roll a die and act according to the image on the die, attempting to stack their folding Cat Cards and get rid of all of the Cat Cards in their hands. This fast paced party game is great for players that want something light-hearted and fun to raise their energy levels and excitement without raising their stress. This cute cat game is great for kids or any group that wants a light game to play.

Steve’s staff pick, Lords of Waterdeep, is a competitive game for 2 to 5 players that can be played in 60 to 120 minutes, and is one of our recommended games for 4 players. In this fantasy worker placement game, set in the Forgotten Realms, players act as the secret rulers of Waterdeep, in a hidden power struggle to control the city through manipulation, scheming, and ambitious power plays. This heavily themed euro-game is an especially great choice for fans of Dungeons and Dragons looking for an in-depth strategy board game.

Aron’s staff pick, Tigris and Euphrates, is a competitive game for 2 to 4 players that can be played in 90 minutes. In this tile placement and resource collection game, players use their 4 different leaders in farming, trading, religion, and government to battle for control of the titular rivers, in an attempt to build the most advanced and well-rounded culture by the end of the game. This relatively light strategy game is easy to pick up and has great depth to it. It’s perfect for any group looking for an in-depth game that’s not too time-consuming.

Cameron’s staff pick, Jarl: The Vikings Tile-Laying Game, is a competitive game for 2 players that can be played in 15-25 minutes. In this head to head strategy game, players move their warriors around the board, flipping them when they move to reveal a different set of movement options. Players move their pieces to capture their opponent’s pieces, with the ultimate goal of capturing their opponent’s Jarl. This simple, fast, competitive game is perfect for any pair looking for a new game with a classic chess or checkers feel.

Any of these games are great choices, so make sure to check them out next time you visit us at The Round Table. If you’re looking for more great game choices, ask us about our library next time you visit, and we’ll be happy to help you choose from our selection of over 200 games.
