Intro To: Good Video Game Games

Video Game Board Games

Last week, we introduced you to some totally rad TV Show games. Now we’re introducing some of our favourite video game board game tie-ins. That way, after you play the video game at Afterlife, our sister location, you can come to The Round Table, and play the board game version. Read on for introductions to some super cool video game board games!

Portal: The Uncooperative Cake Acquisition Game is a competitive game for 2 to 4 players that can be played in 30 to 45 minutes.  In this area control card game, you race away from collapsing sections of the lab, attempting to collect more cake than your opponents. Whoever has the most cake when one player’s team of test subjects is completely eliminated wins the game – triumphant and hugely successful! If SCIENTIFIC PROGRESS is at the forefront of your mind, or you just want to prove that the cake isn’t a lie, check out this awesome game.

Atari: Centipede The Board Game is a competitive game for 2 or 4 players that can be played in 30 to 45 minutes. In this dice-rolling head-to-head game, one team controls the Gnome, moving it around the board, performing actions, and the other team controls the titular centipede, and wriggles around the board, attempting to destroy the gnome. When a team successfully eliminates their opponents, they win the game!

Pac-Man Game is a competitive game for 2 to 4 players that can be played in 20 minutes, and is one of our vintage games. In this competitive roll and move game, players move different colours of “Pac Man”s, collecting power pellets and avoiding ghosts. If you get an energizer pellet, you can power up and chase the ghosts back to their starting locations. There’s not a lot of depth to this familiar feeling Milton Bradley game but it’s a fun throwback with awesome plastic components that’s sure to be a blast – especially for kids or anyone that grew up playing classic games like this one!

Mega Man: The Board Game is a competitive game for 2 to 6 players that can be played in 60 to 180 minutes. This beautiful game plays just like the video game, with players taking turns moving Mega Man through perilous stages. This is the most visually stunning game on this list, complete with pre-painted miniatures, heat pressed pixel art dice, and mini cards in a custom size! Your goal is to make it through the various stages, and a boss rush, before defeating the evil Doctor Wiley! If you’re looking for a fun game that will pit you against your friends, with super nice component quality, then you need to give this game a play!

Be sure to keep these awesome games in mind, next time you’re wondering what to play! If you’re looking for some other awesome suggestions, check out some really good family games or some highly strategic 4X games! Whatever your taste in games is, there’s always something cool to play here at The Round Table!
